Every character in Earth Defense Force: World Brothers has their own ability (mapped to the L2 button on PS4). Okajima showed still images that included a Cowboy Brother with a six-shooter, a Pharaoh Sister carrying an ankh, and a masked El Dorado Brother from South America. Given the theme of this new game, there will also be a variety of new "brothers and sisters" based on cultures from around the globe (sorry, cube) who can become allies. World Brothers will be released in Japan on December 24 for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, while an "early 2021" release is planned for other territories.

The game also released worldwide for PC via Steam in July 2019. The last main-numbered Earth Defense Force game was the Sandlot-developed Earth Defense Force, 5 which released for the PlayStation 4 in Japan in December 2017 and the rest of the world in December 2018.

The last release from the series was the spinoff title Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain which released simultaneously worldwide in April 2019.
So far, we don’t have any additional info from the website or D3 Publisher, but we’ll likely get some new information very soon in the coming days. The website shows the top image that says “coming in 2021” along with the game’s first screenshots. The information comes from a new teaser website for the new game. D3 Publisher announced Earth Defense Force 6 as the latest entry from the series set to launch in 2021.
